Stephen Reustle has created quite a vineyard and winery operation in Oregon’s Umpqua Valley, crafting some of the Northwest’s most distinctive wines. He honors his wife, Gloria, with this bottling of Syrah, and the label reflects the Puerto Rican flag, her native land. It opens with elegant aromas of cocoa powder, black cherry and spice, followed by flavors of dark chocolate, blackberry and Bing cherry. Mild tannins and acidity make this an approachable wine in its youth. Pair with grilled rib eye topped with sautéed mushrooms.
