Seven Bridges Winery 2010 Echo West Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $50
Portland winemakers/soccer players Kevin Ross and Bob Switzer founded their downtown boutique winery in 2008, and their teamwork with small lots has produced remarkable results. Lloyd Piercy’s vineyard northwest of Pendleton, Ore., has been the secret sauce behind some remarkable Northwest reds over the years. Here, it gets the spotlight. They’ve preserved characteristics associated with the variety via notes of red bell pepper, black cherry, blackberry, black pepper and a stroll through a humidor. On the attack comes an explosive entry of black currant, dark strawberry and dark chocolate. It’s a plush, rich and elegant drink that’s capped by cordial cherry and allspice notes.
Rating: Outstanding!

Andy: Love your work on WA wines. On your recent newsletter, you looked at top cabs from OR Vinyards. I’ve got to throw Tero Estates in there for his cabs. Doug makes amazing cabs (3 different cabs from specific blocks of his estate Vinyards) and they are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. In case you haven’t met Doug (owner/winemaker) he is a fabulous winemaker, and a great guy!

Hi, Bill.
Thank you for the note and kind words. I have visited Tero tasting room at the Marcus Whitman, but I don’t think we’ve tasted its wines. I appreciate the heads up and will seek them out.
