Glaze 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $15
Best Buy! Our judging panel blind tasted this wine in January alongside 130 other Northwest Cabernet Sauvignons. It scored our top “Outstanding” rating – and does so again three months later in another blind tasting by the Great Northwest Wine editors. For us, this has a lot of “Wow” by showing that kind of high-quality consistence. This wine is made by Ross Mickel of Ross Andrew Winery in Woodinville, Wash., and it’s marketed by Precept Wine in Seattle. It’s a rich, fresh wine with aromas of black plum, minerality, dark chocolate and black pepper. On the palate, it is approachable now, thanks to mild tannins and round flavors of chocolate, black cherry and bright acidity. This affordable Cab has a high yummy factor.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 1,200 cases
Alcohol: 13.7%

Andy: Love your work on WA wines. On your recent newsletter, you looked at top cabs from OR Vinyards. I’ve got to throw Tero Estates in there for his cabs. Doug makes amazing cabs (3 different cabs from specific blocks of his estate Vinyards) and they are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. In case you haven’t met Doug (owner/winemaker) he is a fabulous winemaker, and a great guy!

Hi, Bill.
Thank you for the note and kind words. I have visited Tero tasting room at the Marcus Whitman, but I don’t think we’ve tasted its wines. I appreciate the heads up and will seek them out.
