Milbrandt Vineyards 2012 Traditions Pinot Gris, Columbia Valley, $13
By Great Northwest Wine on November 28, 2013
Best Buy! Joshua Maloney honed his skills on working with large lots while heading up the red wine program from Chateau Ste. Michelle. His move to join the Milbrandt brothers means he has 2,000 acres of vineyards to work with. This is one of the state’s larger productions of Pinot Gris, and it’s expressive, opening with aromas of facial powder, dusty lime and lemon yogurt. On the palate, it’s bright from beginning to end with white peach, apricot and Asian pear. The up-front acidity finishes with nice edges of gooseberry and lime. Suggested pairings include antipasto, soft cheese and things from the sea.
Rating: Excellent
Production: 9,000 cases
Alcohol: 12.5%
