Several years ago, the winemaking of Robert Smasne helped put this Walla Walla winery on the national map, and their releases continue to shine. There was no skimping on oak as the nose features vanilla bean and toasted walnut, backed by black cherry, red currant, green peppercorns and cedar. On the palate, it presents a rich and dark core of fruit with black cherry and black rapsberry, followed by cassis and lime zest. Its structure is solid, and pomegranate acidity gives it length. Their wines are available at the Walla Walla winery, their tasting room in Kirkland and Nectar Tasting Room in Spokane, and this bottling earned a silver medal at the 2014 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition
