One of the New World’s premier producers of aromatic white varieties continues its tradition with another stunning example of Riesling in the Pacific Northwest from vines planted in 1980s under the direction of German patriarch “Fritz” Kruger. The nose offers hints of granite dust, white pepper, jasmine, lavender and clove behind the lead of Asian pear, Gala apple and lime. There’s a rush of white peach, pineapple and lychee with undercurrents of pink grapefruit acidity and pith washing through the residual sugar of 1.5%. For geeks interested in the chemistry managed by winemaker Hagen Kruger, the pH checks in at 2.97 with total acidity of 7.8 grams per liter.  It earned a gold medal at the 2014 InterVin International Wine Awards near Niagara Falls, and the family particularly enjoys this with chicken or seafood.
