As Dusted Valley Vintners continues to grow this brand, the Wisconsin boys haven’t compromised on quality, especially with Syrah as this low-oak wine merits our top rating for the third straight vintage. There’s complexity in the nose of bursting blueberries, fresh plums and blackberry sauce with notes of alder-smoked bacon, cherry pipe tobacco and leather. The structure is stunning as it opens with rich flavors of plum jam and leads into dusty Marionberries and cherry juice, creating a succulent midpalate. Sublime tannins steer this toward a lighter approach, which carries into a rounded finish of chocolate. These screwcap wines are distributed nationwide to grocers, wine merchants and restaurants as production has increased nearly five-fold since the 2011 vintage.
