Leah Jørgensen Cellars 2014 Panner-Hanson Vineyard Loiregon Sauvignon Blanc, Rogue Valley, $20
Wine Press Northwest’s 2014 Oregon Winery to Watch continues to create charming — and sometimes geeky — wines from Southern Oregon fruit using France’s Loire Valley as the template. The approach here by Leah Jørgensen takes a Pouilly-Fumé angle with this 1-acre block farmed by the Moore family, Southern Oregon’s second-generation winegrowing pioneers. The theme is one of Golden Delicious apple, grilled pear, spearmint, fresh thyme, flint and white truffle oil. Its structure offers a rounded midpalate of honeydew melon balanced by a fun flash of sweet lime in the finish. These fascinating wines are available in Portland via Corridor #5 Distribution and in the Puget Sound region through American Northwest Distribution. Suggested pairings include white fish, goat cheese, grilled asparagus, oysters and sushi.

Great article. Thank you for focusing on this neglected grape.
