Horse racing fan Terry Wells cashes a winning ticket with this bottling from Alder Ridge, Dionysus and Heart of the Hill vineyards, a three-barrel lot that spent 22 months in French and American oak. Classic Washington Cab aromas of black cherry and cassis include cocoa powder, toast, saffron rice and dusty minerality. It breaks out of the gate with a focused and elegant stride of cherry and currant flavors over a saddle of underlying tannins. Down the stretch comes bittersweet chocolate and toast, giving this drink lots of finesse. This young boutique brand calls Building D in the Woodinville Warehouse District its home.
