West Coast winemaker Jim Sanders, known in Oregon primarily for his work under the Le Cadeau Vineyard brand and his Aubichon Cellars label, creates a variety of reds and aromatic whites from California and the Willamette Valley under the Joleté label. His latest Pinot Gris is off Olenik Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains and Lazy River in Yamhill-Carlton, and he presents it in a classic and crisp Oregon style. His use of 10% French oak adds to the aromas of orchard fruit such as apricot and peach, which are joined by lime peel, Harvest Snaps Green Pea Crisps and a scrape of slate. On the palate, it’s bone dry and loaded with orange and lime juice, joined by more slaty and finished with citrus peel and a hint of salinity in the finish. These wines are distributed in Washington, Ohio, New Jersey and New York as well as in Oregon at the Le Cadeau tasting room in Dundee next to the Inn at Red Hills, the Wine Cellar in Portland, the Harvest Wine Bar in Lake Oswego and Renaissance Wines in Hillsboro.
