AntoLin Cellars 2009 Syrah, Yakima Valley, $24
Tony Haralson is a pharmacist by day and a winemaker in the evening and on weekends. He and his wife, Linda, are crafting delicious wines using Yakima Valley grapes. This delicious Syrah comes from Elephant Mountain, a dramatic, high-elevation vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills. This is a classic Washington Syrah with aromas of blueberry, boysenberry, vanilla bean, spice and smoke, followed by opulent flavors of black fruit, dark chocolate and black licorice. It’s a big wine with ample fruit, oak, tannin and acidity that will pair well now with barbecued ribs or a fatty steak. We also think it could become really, really interesting over the next several years.
