Wine Press Northwest’s 2012 Washington Winery to Watch used a combination of Hungarian, American and French oak to help creates heady aromas of fresh bag of Aussie black licorice, chocolate and charcoal along with notes of plums and rose petals. Much more of the Lodmell Vineyard fruit shows on the palate, starting with black currants and black currants. There’s a bit of hedonism on the midpalate before a flourish of black pepper and tannins akin to plum skins and black currant skins. Enjoy with Eggplant Parmesan.
