Tildio Winery 2009 Estate Reserve Tempranillo, Lake Chelan, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on April 1, 2013
Tildio winemaker/owner Katy Perry worked her way through a decade in the California wine industry before heading north to ply her trade at Chateau Ste. Michelle then launch Tildio on the north shore of Lake Chelan. She and husband Milum are pioneers in Lake Chelan, planting Tempranillo at their winery in an area with no viticultural track record. This delicious red opens with aromas of black cherry, vanilla, plum and even an intriguing hint of teriyaki. On the palate, it offers rustic flavors of boysenberry and Bing cherry, all backed with plenty of structure to back all the fruit.
