Kitzke Cellars 2007 Janaina Sensacao Red, Columbia Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on April 10, 2013
Kitzke is a young winery on Candy Mountain, not far from Red Mountain in the heart of Washington’s Columbia Valley. This is a superb blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot, Barbera, Sangiovese, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. All the pieces work well together, opening with aromas of strawberry fruit leather, pink peppercorns, raspberry, slate and cedar. On the palate, it reveals rich flavors of black cherry, mint, Marionberry and dark chocolate. The moderate tannins provide accessibility now and give way to a lengthy finish.
