Kitzke Cellars 2009 Monte Caramelle, Columbia Valley, $30
By Great Northwest Wine on April 16, 2013
Kitzke Cellars is an up-and-coming winery on Candy Mountain, a hill not far from Red Mountain. This is a blend of Sangiovese (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Syrah, making it a Super Tuscan style of red. It is a plush, youthful winewith aromas of oak, strawberry, fruit leather, sweet cigar tobacco and ripe plum. On the palate, it unveils flavors of red currant, bacon, chocolate and coffee. It has a gorgeous midpalate and moderate tannins, making this approachable with grilled meats or lasagna.
