Dusted Valley Vintners 2011 StoneTree Vineyard Mourvedre, Wahluke Slope, $39
By Great Northwest Wine on May 10, 2013
The boys are at it again. Brothers-in-law Chad Johnson and Corey Braunel made their name with Syrah, and now they are crafting another Rhône red with equal artistry. The grapes come from grower Tedd Wildman’s vineyard on the remote Wahluke Slope. It opens with aromas of cedar, poached plum and black pepper, backed with youthful flavors of dried cherry, wintergreen and sweet herbs. It’s a gorgeous wine with terrific structure, and it’s likely to only get better with a couple of years in your cellar.
