Can Cab Franc be great? No doubt, whether it’s in its native Bordeaux or here in Washington state. This is a great example of variety, which has Merlot (18%) and Petit Verdot (2%) blended for complexity. It opens with aromas of malted milk ball, fresh thyme, dried basil, black cherry and raspberry. On the palate, it offers flavors of blackberry, green peppercorn and sweet herbs. It’s a rich and rewarding wine with terrific length. This already has earned a unanimous double gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition in January.
