Erath Winery 2010 Hyland Pinot Noir, McMinnville, $50
By Great Northwest Wine on May 18, 2013
Hyland is one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in Oregon, having been first planted in 1971. The 100-acre vineyard is in McMinnville, a hill that is in the northern Willamette Valley and near the city of McMinnville. The vineyard is now owned by Laurent and Danielle Montalieu, who use it for estate wines as well as sell grapes to other producers. This offers aromas and flavors of strawberry, rhubarb, black currant, watermelon and oak spice. It’s backed with solid acidity and modest tannins.
