The Pommard clone is one of the original clones planted in Oregon wine country. It tends to produce grapes that are a bit bigger, broader and denser. In this example, winemaker Gary Horner was able to bend the fruit to his will a bit, crafting a wine with grace and elegance. It offers aromas of mocha, black currant, pomegranate and Rainier cherry, followed by flavors of cherry, golden raspberry and red plum. Vibrant acidity and gentle tannins provide all the structure this beautifully balanced wine needs.
