Righteous Wines 2009 Petit Verdot, Walla Walla Valley, $23
By Great Northwest Wine on May 22, 2013
Winemaker Josh McDaniels of Sweet Valley Winery bottles Petit Verdot under his Righteous label, and it is a stunner – one of the best versions of the variety we’ve come across in Washington. It opens with complex aromas of dark chocolate, rosemary, slate and luscious blackberry jam. On the palate, it reveals bold flavors of cordial cherry, blackberry and minerality. Bold tannins back up all the fruit without overwhelming the palate.
