Rainstorm 2010 Pinot Noir, Oregon, $17
By Great Northwest Wine on June 5, 2013
Rainstorm is part of VinMotion, a company that also includes Pacific Rim Winemakers. Rainstorm focuses on Oregon’s two most important grapes: Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, and it makes both of them extremely well. This is a stunning red, especially for the price. It opens with aromas of strawberry-rhubarb pie, raspberry, black pepper and portabella mushroom. On the palate, it offers complex flavors of plum, cherry, cranberry, black pepper and chocolate, all backed with suave tannins and right-on acidity. Pair with everything from pork roast to salmon.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 3,500 cases
Alcohol: 12.5%
