Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2010 Destiny Ridge Vineyard Jet Black Syrah, Horse Heaven Hills, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on June 13, 2013
Alexandria Nicole Cellars – “ANC” to its fans – has it all going on. It has tasting rooms on both sides of the Cascades (Prosser and Woodinville) and one of the state’s most creative chefs (Frank Magaña) on staff and a sweet spot for a vineyard overlooking the Columbia River in the southern Horse Heaven Hills. This luscious Syrah opens with aromas of cedar, cardamom, mint and blueberry, followed by rich flavors of Marionberry, plum, dark chocolate and oak. It’s a pretty assertive wine, so tame it with a ribeye or grilled portabella mushrooms.
