Smasne Cellars 2010 Lawrence Vineyard Block #3 Syrah, Columbia Valley, $44
By Great Northwest Wine on June 13, 2013
This wine is consistently one of winemaker Robert Smasne’s best, as prior vintages have won numerous awards and accolades. This new release is no different, earning our top rating. It comes from Lawrence Vineyard, which is a cool area of the Columbia Valley north of the Wahluke Slope. This opens as a classic Washington Syrah, offering aromas of leather, boysenberry and black pepper, followed by bright flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plum and a bit of chocolate on the finish. Impressive acidity lifts up all the fruit, making this a great wine to serve with duck, prime rib, mushroom risotto or gourmet pizza.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 98 cases
Alcohol: 13.9%
