Waterbrook Winery 2010 Reserve Merlot, Columbia Valley, $23
By Great Northwest Wine on July 14, 2013
John Freeman is starting his second decade at this longtime Walla Walla Valley winery, where he arrived in 2003 and was promoted to head winemaker in 2005. This opens with aromas of cedar, strawberry and mint, followed by big flavors of plum, pie cherry and blueberry. It is backed up with assertive tannins and solid acidity. Enjoy with grilled meats or midweek pizza delivery. University of Washington supporters can find 500 cases with this special purple-and-gold label at QFC grocers in Washington with a retail price of $21.
