Luminous Hills 2011 Estate Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on July 24, 2013
Luminous Hills is a high-end label for Seven of Hearts Winery in Oregon and is named for owner/winemaker Byron Dooley’s 15-acre vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA in the northern Willamette Valley. This blend of four Pinot Noir clones opens with aromas of cherry, lime juice, strawberry and lavender, followed by flavors of pie cherry, cranberry and pomegranate. It is backed with minerally tannins and bright acidity, which gives it good length and should help it reach its peak in the next decade.
