Martinez & Martinez Winery 2012 Tudor Hills Vineyard Pinot Grigio, Yakima Valley, $16
By Great Northwest Wine on July 27, 2013
Monica Tudor-Martinez manages this young Prosser, Wash., winery for her winemaking husband and in-laws. The fruit for their first release of Pinot Gris comes from her father’s vineyard, and the results have been well-received. Its nose is reminiscent of piña colada candy, honeysuckle and fresh artichoke, while tropical flavors of pineapple and coconut dominate the easy-going structure. This small production sold through their Winemakers Loft tasting room so quickly that Team Martinez plans to quadruple its purchase from the Tudors this fall.
