Shane Collins continues to expand his winemaking program with the vineyards surrounding Dr. Bob Jankelson’s picturesque winery on the south shore of Lake Chelan, and this Syrah is more food-friendly than most you’ll find. The nose broadcasts tones of raspberry, cranberry and blueberry, along with candela leaf tobacco, toasted sesame and cedar. Those high-toned red fruit descriptors dominate the flavors, backed by abundant acidity that exceeds the tannin structure. Suggested fare includes grilled lamb with raspberry sauce, pork shank or the Half Roasted Duck with a balsamic glaze and atop rosemary polenta at Sorrento’s Risorante — the on-premise restaurant at Tsillan Cellars.
