Gordon Taylor and his signature outback hat have been working with the Newhouse family on this fortified project since 2007, and they’ve got it dialed in. While it doesn’t scream Port-style in the nose with its delicate cherry, raspberry and milk chocolate notes, its structure is dangerously good. Cherries, raspberries and chocolate-covered orange peel flavors come across as not overly sweet (10% residual sugar) with lip-smacking acidity. Taylor’s skill also shows with the presentation of alcohol, which is nearly hidden.
