Knight Hill Winery 2009 Syrah Sirah, Columbia Valley, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on July 30, 2013
Anke Wildman, in her third decade of making wine in the Yakima Valley, has lead the wine program in Zillah, Wash., for Terry and Anne Harrison. Most of the Syrah (75%) and all the Petite Sirah (25%) came from renowned StoneTree Vineyard, operated by Wildman’s husband, Tedd. The presentation opens with aromas of dusty cherry, chocolate and cigar leaf. Cherries and chocolate continue to drive the pleasing palate, which carries a light to medium body because of its nice acidity and pinch of green peppercorn in the finish. Enjoy with meat off the grill and planked salmon.
