Cinder Wines 2012 Off-Dry Viognier, Snake River Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on August 1, 2013
The 2011 version of this wine won double gold and best white wine at last year’s Idaho Wine Competition, and winemaker Melanie Krause has nailed it again with the 2012 vintage. This delicious white is just slightly off-dry. It shows off aromas of lavender, coriander, lemon and Circus Peanut candy, followed by flavors of lime, Bartlett pear, apple and a spring of mint in the farewell. Pair this with salmon, pan-seared scallops or even mildly spicy Thai dishes.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 400 cases
Alcohol: 14.3%
