Red blend wins top award at North Central Washington Wine Awards

WENATCHEE, Wash. – A Peshastin winery owned by a five-time winner on the LPGA Tour took home top honors Saturday night at the third-annual North Central Washington Wine Awards compeition.

Silvara Vineyards, owned by Cindy Rarick and Gary Seidler, earned best in show for its 2010 Quartette, a Malbec-based red blend. Rarick is a former LPGA Tour player, and Seidler is the winemaker at their winery above the highway between Peshastin and Leavenworth.

Jones of Washington in Quincy won best rosé for its 2012 Rosé of Syrah, while Cave B Estate Winery near George won best white wine for its 2012 Sauvignon Blanc. Cave B also won two gold medals.

Chateau Faire le Pont in Wenatchee won a unanimous double gold medal and four golds. Ginkgo Forest in Mattawa also won a double gold.

Milbrandt Vineyards in Mattawa earned four gold medals.

The competition is put on by Foothills magazine and the Wenatchee World newspaper. The competition was conducted by Great Northwest Wine.
