Best Buy! Victor Palencia, the winemaking talent behind Jones of Washington — Wine Press Northwest’s 2012 Washington Winery of the Year — is branching out in some fascinating ways. Later this summer, he’s opening his own winery in Walla Walla, but earlier this year he began his keg program for Northwest restaurants. The Prosser High product makes some of the best Riesling in this corner of the world, and he shows his golden touch here. Tantalizing aromas include Juicy Fruit gum, peach, apricot, lemon and citrus pith. The drink is deliciously fresh with tropical fruit on the entry, more peach and apricot on the midpalate, and frothy acidity in the back end to expertly balance the residual sugar of 1.2%. Experience these fresh wines at the Piccola Cellars tasting room in the Woodinville Warehouse District. They also are available in 1.5-liter totes ($18) at many Puget Sound grocery stores, including Whole Foods Market locations in Bellevue, Lynnwod, Redmond, Roosevelt and Westlake as well as farmers markets in Carnation, Mercer Island, Sammamish and Shoreline.
