Andrew Will Winery 2010 Mays’ Discovery Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Horse Heaven Hills, $45
By Great Northwest Wine on August 26, 2013
Owner/winemaker Chris Camarda has mostly moved away from varietal red wines, preferring to craft blends from specific vineyards. This vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills has only Cabernet Sauvignon, and he was unable to resist producing a straight Cab from Discovery Vineyard. Though this still needs some time to resolve itself in the bottle, it already is beginning to show what Camarda hopes it to achieve. It reveals aromas of cigar leaf, black cherry and cocoa powder, followed by rich, round, juicy flavors of pomegranate, cherry and black currant. The tannins are elegant and complex, giving way to a fine finish.
