Matt Driscoll makes his Pinot Noir in Gaston, Ore., by using some of the Willamette Valley’s top vineyards, but he reaches into warmer Southern Oregon for one of the most delicious examples of Viognier released this year. The enjoyable aromas feature lemon cream, peach, apricot, Honeycrisp apple, honeysuckle and vanilla. The peachy and apricot flavors linger along with honeydew melon before yielding to a lengthy finish of pink grapefruit pith. That balances the residual sugar, which hangs just below 1%, making for a really fun pairing with Asian cuisine. WildAire’s wines are available at the tasting room in downtown Carlton upscale grocers in Portland, Salem and Eugene, as well as Eureka, Calif., Colorado and Virginia.
