Boomtown 2011 Chardonnay, Washington State, $16
This collaboration between Dusted Valley Vintners in Walla Walla and the Wahluke Wine Co., continues to produce consistently delicious Chardonnay. It starts with freshly sliced lemon and just-pressed apple cider, backed by pineapple and slate notes. The drink is fruit-forward and food-friendly with fleshy apple and pear flavors on the entry, backed by lemon juice and some pith, a touch of minerality and finished with lime. It’s easy to get into with its screwcap, but it won’t be as easy to find with production limited compared with previous vintages.
