The Gamache brothers – Roger and Bob – are from a longtime Columbia Basin farming family who have been growing wine grapes near the Columbia River for the better part of three decades. With the help of winemaker Charlie Hoppes, they opened their winery in 2002 and opened a beautiful tasting room in the Vintners Village in the Yakima Valley town of Prosser. This is a gorgeous Cabernet Franc with classic aromas of crushed leaf, black pepper, blackberry and Baker’s chocolate. On the palate, it reveals rich flavors of dried strawberry, black cherry, dried herbs and dark chocolate, all backed by moderate tannins and solid acidity. Cab Franc from Washington doesn’t get a lot better than this.
