Michelle NV Brut, Columbia Valley, $14

By on November 8, 2013

michelle-brut-bottleBest Buy! We all should celebrate every day of life, and these bubbles by Ste. Michelle Wine Estates make it affordable to do so each day. The blend of Chardonnay (63%), Pinot Noir (19%) and Pinot Gris create aromas of baked bread, poached Asian pear, Golden Delicious apple, lemon zest and white button mushroom. There’s a clean and bright start to the flavors of fresh apple and ripe Bartlett pear, which features a round frothy mousse on the midpalate — 18 months of surlie aging — and pleasing acidity for length, which more than balances the residual sugar of 1.3%. Suggested fare includes clam dip and sashimi.

Rating: Excellent

Production: 175,000 cases

Alcohol: 11.5%
