Patterson Cellars 2011 Petit Verdot, Walla Walla Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on November 10, 2013
John Patterson continues to impress with the work that emerges from his Woodinville Warehouse District winery, which he also shares at his tasting room in Hollywood School District. This lesser-known Bordeaux variety receives support from Merlot (13%) as the opulent nose brings hints of black cherry and plum with chocolate, white pepper and a fair bit of char. Dense flavors are dominated by rich blackberry, cherry and plum. Moderate tannins and some racy acidity from red currant combine for a smooth finish.
Rating: Excellent
