Chateau Ste Michelle 2012 Horse Heaven Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Horse Heaven Hills, $15
By Great Northwest Wine on November 14, 2013
Best Buy! Presented as a Sauvignon Blanc, this bottling from the Paterson, Wash., vineyard includes the tradition blending partner of Semillon (5%), and it barely hints at the partial older barrel fermentation (40%). The nose of Granny Smith apple and Asian pear gathers up hints of pineapple, clove and lychee. Crisp orchard fruit flavors come through in bright fashion, finished with lime peel and kumquat. Suggested food pairings include steamed mussels, herb-encrusted chicken and goat cheese.
Rating: Excellent
