Columbia Crest 2010 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $45
By Great Northwest Wine on November 28, 2013
Three of Washington state’s top sites — Beverly, StoneTree and Wautoma Springs, which aren’t far from Mattawa — factored into this refined Cabernet Sauvignon. The harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon (87%), Merlot (11%) and Cabernet Franc on Oct. 2 produces aromas of black currant, warm boysenberry, plum, chocolate and violet. There’s a clean and rich welcome of boysenberry, red currant and dark chocolate on the palate with moderate tannins on the midpalate. A finish of dusty red cherry and black olive give it a touch of elegance.
Rating: Excellent
