Kyra Wines 2010 Pinot Noir, Columbia Valley, $18
Looking for a wine to debunk the argument that Washington cannot produce delicious Pinot Noir? Moses Lake winemaker Kyra Baerlocher — who creates a wide variety of stunning wines at approachable prices — provides a stellar example with this offering that’s filled with finesse. The nose begins with hints of wild raspberry, black currant, Milk Duds and Brown & Haley Chocolate Covered Graham cookie. Supple flavors of dark strawberry and raspberry jam are followed by pleasing acidity with notes of toasted pine nuts and duck fat in the finish. There’s a virtual absence of tannin, making this a fine foil for Thanksgiving turkey or pork tenderloin.
