Dick Beightol’s vineyard is virtually across the road from famed Champoux Vineyard, which he helped plant more than 40 years ago. The neighborhood has earned its reputation as one of the Northwest’s best for producing Cabernet Sauvignon, and the grape accounts for 85% of the blend from this vintage. Syrah forms the rest, and the wine opens with aromas of cherry jam, raspberry, crushed walnut, black licorice and minerality. There’s a bold entry to the palate with dark cherries and black raspberry, backed sturdy tannins, while the finish of pomegranate revives the palate with acidity.
