Malaga Springs Winery 2012 Muscat Canelli, Washington, $12
By Great Northwest Wine on December 22, 2013
Best Buy! Research indicates that this variety is the mother of all wine grapes, and its sweet approach with tropical notes and orchard blossom makes typically makes Muscat a tasting room favorite. This young winery just downstream from Wenatchee, Wash., uses the Italian name for its bottling, which carries aromas of lychee, apple blossom and spun sugar. There are flavors of pineapple candy and more lychee as orangy acidity stays just ahead of the abundant 4.5% residual sugar.
