53. Cascade Cliffs Vineyard & Winery 2009 Reserve Nebbiolo, Columbia Valley, $50
Nebbiolo is at home in northwest Italy, but owner/winemaker Robert Lorkowski has created a worthy rendition at his small winery atop basalt cliffs in Washington state overlooking the Columbia River. It opens with aromas of cherry, plum, spice and red licorice, followed by big flavors of black cherry, vanilla and cherry liqueur. It is backed with bold acidity and somewhat restrained tannins. This is a wine to savor.
Production: 105 cases
Alcohol: 14%
