Terry Brandborg would love to turn Elkton Villages Nouveau into an annual celebration at his eponymous Southern Oregon winery, but some years the Pinot Noir won’t make it to the party in time. In 2003, the fruit came in early enough for Brandborg and his wife, Sue, to create their third Beaujolais Nouveau-themed — this year on Nov. 21. There are pretty aromas and yummy flavors of cherry juice, strawberry jam, plum and allspice. The freshness of the wine is apparent with the inherent hints of yeastiness and dab of residual sugar amid good frontal acidity and a fair bit of tannin. It’s built to drink now, and the Brandborgs paired it with Boeuf Bourguignon for their fans who traveled to Elkton for the party.
