Best Buy! Reds generate most of the headlines from the Horse Heaven Hills, but some stunning white wines also are created from this region that’s just across the Columbia River from Oregon. Wallula Vineyard, 9 Canyon and Canoe Ridge Vineyard come together to make for a fruit-forward nose of sweet pineapple, apricot preserves, Bartlett pear, Golden Delicious apple and lime juice. The 40 percent of barrel fermented wine shows on the creamy and rounded entry to the palate where there’s more white orchard fruit and tropical flavors. It’s a full-bodied Chardonnay with nice richness and length, backed with a late burst of acidity and a lick of pineapple candy and citrus pith in the finish.
