By Great Northwest Wine on January 3, 2014
Last year’s Washington Winery of the Year for Wine Press Northwest magazine continues to impress with this special blend named for his young son. The blend of Bordeaux varieties from Verhey, Phinny Hill and Upland vineyards leads with Malbec (51%) and followed by substantial support from Cabernet Sauvignon (42%), Petit Verdot (4%) and Carmenere. Aromas offer up hints of cranberry, raspberry and dried herbs, along with vanilla, rosehip, ginger and vanilla. Gobs of ripe red fruit flavors are met with a bold tannin structure, while racy acidity and notes of juniper berry and cardamom extend the finish.
