Best Buy! Todd Newhouse of Upland Vineyard on Snipes Mountain grows Morio-Muskat, a German cross of Silvaner and Weissburgunder, and winemaker Robert Smasne has featured it in the past with a single-variety, vineyard-designate wine done in a dry style. Here, he expertly blends it with Riesling (32%) and Viognier (21%) for an off-dry, bright and yummy starter wine. Tropical aromas include lychee nut, guava and rosewater, followed by a match of ambrosia salad flavors. The Riesling provides ample acidity to steer it from being cloying as well as adding minerality for complexity.
