Olsen Vineyards near Prosser, Wash., supplies all the Riesling that Linda Trotta makes for this upscale winery at Suncadia Resort in the Cascade Range, and this lot marks her third vintage with the noble white grape since her arrival from Sonoma. Tropical aromas also flash a hint of jasmine, while the flavors push out baked pineapple, pear and a pleasing Granny Smith apple peel bite in the finish, which deliciously deals with the residual sugar (0.8%). The on-premise Hoist House Restaurant pairs this with Chilean sea bass, which Trotta describes as Thai preparation with coconut milk and spice components. This wine received a double gold at the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and earned best of class in the dry Riesling category (less than 1.49% RS).
