Anne Amie Vineyards 2010 Winemaker’s Selection Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $35
The Twelve Oaks and Anne Amie estate sites dominate the contributions to this complex, food-friendly Pinot Noir, which is the largest production under the “classic” label of this growing Carlton, Ore., winery. Dusty dried strawberry, Chukar Cherry, plum and raspberry with crushed herbs, slate and saddle leather behind. Its flavors carry that theme with juiciness, picking up some red currant with sandy tannins and a flourish of Montmorency cherry. Thomas Houseman and his team suggest serving this low-alcohol Pinot with Cornish game hen, Peking Duck, char-grilled octopus or a five-spice dish.
